Other People Have a Nationality at Fringe Arts Bath Festival 2017

Claudia's OpenLand Security installation and her video PROTECT ME are both on show at Other People Have a Nationality, curated by Sveta Antonova. The exhibition is part of the Fringe Arts Bath Festival 2017, which is host to over 28 curated shows featuring artists from Bath's creative community alongside international artists in an annual 17 day festival of pop-up exhibitions, events, installations and performances.

Other People Have a Nationality is an exhibition about the concept of home. Everybody has at least 'one home', it is an abstract word relating to a set idea of a place but rather determined by personal experience.

Exhibition at 44AD artspace: "Art + Text 2017"

Kelly O'Brien co-curated and exhibited work at Art+Text 2017, an exhibition at 44AD artspace in Bath. The show featured work by artists from all over the UK, as well as the US, Europe and Australia.

The work spanned a range of mediums - video, print, sculpture, installation, performance, painting - and even spills into the surrounding city. It was very inspiring to see the innovative ways that artists are using text in art!

Kelly is pleased with the response her own installation received, Postcards from the Edge. As an American living in the UK during the 2016 Brexit vote, and then the US Presidential election, she watched in dismay as events have unfolded on both sides of the Atlantic. For the installation, she created four different postcard designs and printed them as monotypes, with messages to President Trump and Prime Minister May respectively. At the end of the exhibition, she collected all completed postcards and mailed them to the respective heads of state.

Vielen dank, for a lovely evening!

A big thank you to everyone who came out last night for our Vernissage at grassgrün! We had a lively, engaged crowd of art lovers, artists, friends, colleagues, and new acquaintances.

We couldn't be happier with how our work has come together. As different as we each are as artists, an unexpected synergy has happened. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Our work - and we as friends - are elevated by this collaboration.

Our exhibition continues through tomorrow only, 11:00 to 20:00, Vogelbergstrasse 38, Frankfurt. Stop by for a leisurely visit, a glass of mint tea, and a relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
